153 Filipinos Abroad Confirmed as Testing Positive for COVID-19

The Department of Foreign Affairs announced as of March 23 a total of 153 confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases among Filipinos abroad.

From the total tally of 153 cases, 66 of the COVID-19 patients are currently undergoing treatment while 86 have either recovered or been discharged. 1 patient has died from the virus.

The 153 cases span over 23 countries and regions.

The largest number of cases comes from Japan, involving Filipinos who were aboard the M/V Diamond Princess that was quarantined off Yokohoma. There were a total of 80 cases from the cruise ship, with 77 patients already recovered. 3 are still undergoing treatment.

There were 13 cases from the M/V Grand Princess that docked in America and another 13 cases in Singapore. 5 cases come from the United Arab Emirates, 3 from Spain, and 2 each from Italy and Greece.

Meanwhile, the Philippines has recorded a total of 462 cases as of March 23.
