PhilHealth to Release Php30 Billion to Hospitals for Fight Against CoVID-19

PhilHealth will be releasing a Php30 Billion fund to accredited hospitals to help in the fight against COVID-19. The fund will be through the interim reimbursement mechanism or IRM.

According to historical data, the amount is equal to a three-month worth of claims and will just be deducted to future claims.

The accredited hospital will need to submit a letter of intent to avail of the IRM.

This is a part of PhilHealth’s efforts to avoid return-t0-hospital payments from 2019. This will also add what the Philhealth is giving to the hospitals.

In the meantime, the agency also extended the deadline for contributions of self-paying members. They can pay their contributions anytime before April 30 instead of the March 31 deadline. The contribution will not have any interest to ease the burden of the members.

Aside from this, the policy of single confinement for 45-days is waived. The submission of claims are extended from 60 to 120 days or more depending on the decision of PhilHealth.
