South Korea currently has the highest number of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) cases aside from China. As of March 3, the country has more than 4,800 confirmed cases and 29 deaths.

Due to this, Malacañang earlier announced a temporary travel ban for Filipino travelers going to South Korea, including Jeju Island. Under this ban, only workers, students, and permanent residents of South Korea were permitted to transit to the country.

However, Presidential spokesperson Salvador Panelo confirmed Tuesday that this travel ban will be partially lifted.
Based on recommendations from the Inter-agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases, travelers will once again be able to visit South Korea. A health declaration signifying their knowledge and understanding of the risks involved in their trip will simply have to be signed. Travelers will also receive a pamphlet with health-related information and reminders.
North Gyeongsang Province, the hotspot of the outbreak, will continue to be restricted to Filipinos.
