Malasimbo has been promoting musicians and artists around the globe and bringing them together in one big festive event in the country for 10 years now. To celebrate a decade, Malasimbo Festival takes things up a notch.
5 Things to Expect at Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival 2020
5. Destination-Feel Experience
I’m getting goosebumps just thinking about the venue.  It’s a closer location and Malasimbo promises to provide its trademark vibes through a park that is actually a rainforest. The Mayor of Quezon City pitched the idea and the founder, Miro Grgic, did not think twice: “When I saw this, I was just inspired. Lots of trees! This is just different. We decided to move because we found a venue that would house our vision and we’re very happy.
People don’t know that it exists in Manila and I think this is a great opportunity to promote it, also in honor of Gina Lopez.”
4. Venue Supporting Mother Nature
Malasimbo used to be held outside the Metro, but it has a more accessible location this year: the La Mesa Ecopark in Quezon City, which is one of the last few green spaces in Manila covering 33 hectares! Despite the fact that it’s inside the city, though, it’s still going to be one with Mother Nature. There will be trash bins everywhere and the event will be more conscious as Malasimbo’s soul has always been about the environment.
3. Good Sound
Miro says that their main focus is sound quality and La Mesa Eco Park’s amphitheater is perfect for it. The lineup at this natural amphitheatre for live music will include both local and international artists: Cory Henry and the Funk Apostles, Mike Love, Laneous, Anomalie, Jesus Molina, Matteo Mancuso, Uncomfortable Science, Brigada, Project Yazz, and Talata ni Tala. DJs and swimming pool parties courtesy of Ean Mayor, Roberto Sena, Deej Fabian, Bass Relief, Norris King, Bing Austria, Rei Ka, Bignay Sound System, and Jingga Who will also be available.
2. Family Program
The festival is sure to be packed this year because they will be using all of the facilities on site, including swimming pools, go karts, bikes, zipline, bungee fun, kids’ playgrounds, and even the butterfly haven. They will also have health and wellness programs for yoga and sound meditation. The Silent Disco will take place at the La Mesa Park Orchidarium, while the live music will take place at the amphitheatre. The event will also donate 10% of the ticket sales to ABS-CBN’s Bantay Kalikasan.
1. More Art
The new location glorifies nature and there is said to be 300-400 lights to illuminate the rain forest at night. Various artists and people from the community will do art installations around the park, as well.
The Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival will run from February 29 to March 1, 2020.
Miro has confirmed that this will also be Malasimbo’s next location in the upcoming years.
