New Instagram Feature Helps Fight Cyberbullying

Cyberbullying is a rampant problem that many people face. Just because you can post anonymously on the internet, some people find it easy to spit out hurtful words on social media. That’s why it’s a good thing that many companies are vocal about their stand against cyberbullying. Now, Instagram is joining the fight against bullying with their upcoming feature.

Reports say that the new feature uses AI that detects if comments may be offensive or hurtful. It will then show a message that says “Are you sure you want to post this?” with a button that can unsend the message in case the user changes their mind.

Apart from that, Instagram also said that they are developing a way for users to avoid unwanted interactions by putting someone on their Restrict list. Once you restrict someone, any comments by that person on your profile will only be visible to that person. Restricted people also won’t be able to see if you’re online.

“It’s our responsibility to create a safe environment on Instagram. This has been an important priority for us for some time, and we are continuing to invest in better understanding and tackling this problem. I look forward to sharing more updates soon,” said Adam Messori, head of Instagram.
