LOOK: This Good Boy is This Year’s Winner of ‘World’s Ugliest Dog’

The annual competition for World’s Ugliest Dog held in San Francisco, California wrapped up last weekend with a new titleholder: a good boy named Scamp the Tramp!

Scamp the Tramp

This adorable puppy with untamable hair had once been a stray before being adopted from a shelter by his owner, Yvonne Morones. In an interview, Yvonne mentioned that she saved Scamp right before he was scheduled to be “put down.”

Scamp currently works as a “pet therapist” for seniors and first-grade children.

Placing second and third in the competition are Wild Thang, a Pekinese with a droopy tongue, and Tostito, a Chihuahua missing a lower jaw.

The purpose of the annual event is to promote adoption at pet shelters and to remind all pet-lovers that all dogs are loveable, no matter what they look like.

“A good many of the contestant dogs have been rescued from shelters and puppy mills and the contest has done much to raise awareness for adoption of dogs, and that no matter their physical detractions, these animals are loving companions,” states the official website.
