There’s A Musical Called Diana Based on the Princess’ Life and Works

We clearly love British royalty, admit it or not. The royal family, even the fictitious kind, has constantly been on our screens: there’s Netflix’s The Crown, PBS’ Victoria, The Tudors, the movie Victoria and Abdul… you get the point.

Now, you can add a musical to the list of fictitious productions receiving the royal treatment. Broadway.com reported that the world premiere of Diana, a musical based on Princess Diana’s life in 1981, will be within California’s La Jolla Playhouse between 2018-2019.

The musical will explore the aftermath of that marriage, from her husband’s highly publicized affair with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall to her turbulent relationship with media personnel.

Diana is created by Joe DiPietro and David Bryan, who were both behind the 2009 Broadway musical Memphis. The musical’s score will reportedly feature both classical melodies and pop and rock songs as popular in the 80’s.
