ENTERTAINMENT: Owl City Finally Answered That Question About ‘Fireflies’ And Hugs

You might remember the music artist Owl City from a few years ago. He’s got that feel good EDM sound that’s always great for a sound trip. One of the hits that catapulted him to stardom was ‘Fireflies’ which was released 2009.

At first look, it’s basically a song about–you guessed it–fireflies. And it’s actually a pretty good song; the type that could easily cheer you up on a bad day.

It was really just a cutesy simple song until someone studied its lyrics and came across a pretty confusing line:

‘Cause I’d get a thousand hugs from ten thousand lightning bugs

This, then, caused Owl City fans to ask for an explanation.

Does each firefly hug you 1,000 times or do only 1/10th of the bugs give you a hug?

Yesterday, Owl City finally took to Facebook to answer this question.

TL;DR: He was embraced 1, 000 times by 10,000 luminescent insects, for a grand total of 10,000,000 hugs.

Owl City also proves that he did his research, adding in a few bits of trivia about fireflies.

So, there you have it, ladies and gentlemen. You may now sleep in peace tonight.
