Walk with Walnut: An 18-Year-Old Dog’s Last Walk Before Euthanasia

People who love dogs, have dogs and lost their dogs would understand how painful it is when the time has come for your dog to cross the rainbow bridge. More so, to see him suffer every single day.

Here’s a story about a dog named Walnut and his last walk before euthanasia.

On a Facebook post last November 9, his pet parent, Mark Woods, shared that Walnut will be having his last walk on November 12, prior to being put to sleep after his 18 good years of life. For Mark, Walnut was not only his pet; he was also his own child and best friend.

His post reached over 8,000 likes, 8,000 comments and 2,000 shares. According to Mark, the post being viral was unexpected. Nevertheless, he found all the kind messages he received from all over the world to be very heart-warming.

About a hundred of people joined Walnut in his last walk. Shortly after Walnut passed away at 11:56 AM on the 12th, Mark posted a photo of them together and said, “Thank you to the hundreds of people that attended the walk this morning and to all those that had their own walks with their beloved pets at 9.30 am all around the world.”

A charity single entitled “Walk with Walnut” was also released by Ethical Record Label in commemoration of Walnut’s memories. All the proceeds of the song will go to the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home.

Indeed, Walnut has not only touched Mark’s life, but also the whole internet’s heart.

May you rest in peace, Walnut.
