Department of Transportation undersecretary for aviation, Roberto Lim, revealed San Miguel Corporation’s (SMC) ambitious plan to create a new international airport. Dubbed as “aerotropolis”, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported that the planned airport will apparently be not in reclaimed land on Manila Bay but in Bulacan.

Lim mentioned that the project will help address the aging and worsening congestion at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).

The report explained that SMC plan for this “aerotropolis” will span at least 2,000 hectares and will have at least four runways.

The project is said cost at least $10 billion.
