On a post by the Ninoy Aquino International Airport MIAA (Manila International Airport Authority) official Facebook page yesterday, advisory was given by airport authorities to expect heavy traffic “following further NAIA-Ex construction works.”
This is part of the Department of Public Works and Highway’s traffic management plan to decongest the roads leading to NAIA’s Terminals 1, 2, and 3. Phase I of the airport elevated expressway project started construction on January 2014, while Phase II begins today, February 13th, 2016.
The expressway, which will be called the NAIAEx, aims to make travels to and fro the airport faster and easier. Gov.ph states on their website: “The P15.86-Billion NAIA Expressway project which is under the private sector financing as part of President Aquino administration’s Public-Private Partnership Program is a 4-lane 7.15-kilometer elevated expressway that aims to provide easy access to and from the three NAIA terminals and link the Skyway and the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (Cavitex).”

Heavy traffic expected following further NAIA-Ex construction works
Passengers with flights to catch in the coming weeks are advised to plan for their trips accordingly following further construction works for the NAIA Expressway Project.
The Department of Public Works and Highways recently came out with an advisory stating that “test pitting activities from Piers 1 to 18 to connect NAIA Expressway Phase II project with the existing Phase I” will start tomorrow, February 13.
Traffic is expected to become heavy particularly at the Villamor Airbase Section along Sales Road, Pasay City.
It adds that a traffic management plan is in place for motorists to use 10th Street and 14th Street in Pasay City as alternate routes going to Sales Interchange from Andrews Avenue.
More traffic enforcers from the Pasay Traffic Bureau and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority will also be deployed to manage traffic at the rotunda of Domestic Road corner Andrews Avenue.
