Philippines’ Rank Drops In World Corruption Survey

A turn for the worse?

The Philippines sank 10 places in the latest survey of the Corruption Perceptions Index, dropping from 85 in 2014 to 95 in 2015, according to local reports.

The country shares the 95th spot with countries Mexico, Armenia, and Mali.

In previous years, the country ranked 94 in 2013 and 105 in 2012.

This year, the survey covered 186 countries. According to Corruption Perception Index:

“This year’s index ranks 186 countries/territories by their perceived levels of public sector corruption.”

Denmark was ranked as the least corrupt in 2015, followed by Finland, Sweden, New Zealand, Netherlands, Norway, Switzerland, Singapore and Canada. Rounding up the top 10 list are the UK, Luxembourg, and Germany.

Most corrupt in the world were Angola, Libya, Venezuela, Afghanistan, Haiti, Iraq, Sudan, South Sudan, and Guinea-Bissau.
