What You Need to Know About the Justice League

The ‘Justice League’ movie will be upon us soon; but in case you aren’t that much of a superhero fan or simply need to jog your memory a bit before the movie comes out, here is a quick run-through of the Justice League members you need to get to know before it hits the cinemas.

Aquaman

Aquaman Justice League

Aquaman is the King of Atlantis and his full name is Arthur Curry. Aquaman can live underwater, and telepathically communicate with and summon sea creatures. He is also super duper strong, obviously (look at those biceps!). In the comics, Aquaman looks nothing like Jason Momoa, but we don’t mind Jason Momoa one bit.

Where you can watch him on-screen so far: Not counting the few-seconds-long appearance in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ (which we will also not count for the rest of the characters in this article), Aquaman does not have a movie yet nor does he have any ongoing TV shows. He was, however, in ‘Smallville’ for a bit – and by a bit, I mean just 4 episodes, but hey, that’s something! The upcoming ‘Justice League’ movie aside, Aquaman is also set for a solo film in 2018.

Cyborg

Cyborg Justice League

Cyborg is more famous from being a part of the Teen Titans before he joined the Justice League. His full name is Victor “Vic” Stone and his parents used him as a test subject for different intelligence enhancement projects. A creature eventually mutilates Victor and his dad gives him experimental prosthetics that turn him into Cyborg. Cyborg can fuse and communicate with technology, and is – like Aquaman – super duper strong. He also has technomorphic healing factors and cyberspace immersion capabilities, being half… well, cyborg (lol).

Where you can watch him on-screen so far: Cyborg film in 2020.

The Flash

The Flash Justice League

Most comic book fans will name The Flash as their favorite DC superhero. His full name is Bartholomew “Barry” Henry Allen and he gets his powers after chemicals – hit by lightning – spill all over him. The Flash can move faster than light speed (thus the name!) – sometimes to the point of passing through walls and traveling through time – and has superhuman reflexes. Sometimes, he wears a silver helmet and sometimes, he wears a yellow mask. His most famous costume, though, is the all-red one.

Where you can watch him on-screen so far: ‘The Flash’ TV series has been ongoing since 2014, but there have also been other appearances of ‘The Flash’ on-screen, such as in ‘Legends of the Superheroes’ and the 90’s ‘The Flash’ series.

Wonder Woman

Wonder Woman Justice League

Wonder Woman is, without a doubt, the best female superhero in the entire universe. (I am biased because I love her, so I can say what I want. :p) Princess Diana of Themyscira is actually an Amazonian princess – the daughter of Hippolyta – and she has the power of the gods. Diana Prince is the name that she uses on Earth, but that is merely a ‘secret identity’. The story of the real Diana Prince changes per comic book arc, so let’s not go there. Wonder Woman is super duper strong and has a bunch of awesome tools at her disposal to bring down the baddies. She has a Lasso of Truth (which is exactly what it sounds like), a weaponised tiara, an invisible jet, indestructible wrist gauntlets, and a sword that can kill even gods. The shield is pretty cool, too. And oh, have I mentioned that she can fly? Booyah!

Where you can watch her on-screen so far: Wonder Woman made an awesome movie debut in ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ and pretty much stole the show, but there is also a classic 70’s TV show starring Lynda Carter. Her standalone movie will be showing this June 2017 before ‘Justice League’ comes out in November.

Batman

Batman Justice League

Batman is the only human member of the Justice League. His full name is Bruce Wayne and he is an orphan who was left billions of dollars after his parents were killed by a criminal. Because of this, he has vowed to get rid of all crime in Gotham City. He doesn’t have any superpowers per se, but he does have enough money to make himself some cool gadgets, such as the Batarangs, the Batmobile, the Grenade Launcher. He also practices 157 types of martial arts, which he learned from Ra’s Al Ghul and the League of Shadows.

Where you can watch him on-screen so far: practically everywhere. :p You can see a list of most of his appearances here. His many movies aside, he also had a TV show in the 60’s with Adam West.

Superman

Superman Movies Ranked From Worst to Best 4

Okay, so Superman wasn’t in the trailer, but come on. I think we all know that he isn’t exactly dead-dead. And even if he is dead-dead (which he obviously isn’t), let’s just add him here anyway. :p Superman is the Last Son of Krypton, son of Jor-El and Lara; but on Earth, he is called Clark Kent. He is considered as the leader of the Justice League… or so I consider him to be, anyway. Someone next to me right now is pushing that Batman is the leader and I guess this is slightly debatable; but for me, Superman is the leader of the Justice League, so it would only make perfect sense that he shows up in the ‘Justice League’ movie – alive and well after ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’. Superman is called The Man of Steel for a reason. He is hella strong, hella fast; and he can fly and has heat vision and x-ray vision.

Where you can watch him on-screen so far: practically everywhere, as well. :p There are a ton of ‘Superman’ movies and TV shows out there with various hunks playing the lead role.

In case you haven’t seen the new trailer yet, here it is:

Now, judging from the first Aquaman poster that showed up last year with the words ‘Unite the Seven’, something doesn’t quite add up yet. Even if Superman shows up, there will only be six Justice League members so far… so who will be the seventh? Any guesses?
