Let’s face it: Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without Mariah Carey’s hit song “All I Want For Christmas Is You.” Now, the holiday tradition will live on, this time as an animated movie.
The singer announced the news on Twitter, with a short teaser trailer. Watch it below:

In her tweet, Carey said, “My song is becoming a movie! You’re the first to hear about this exciting news!”
The trailer shows the text, “Every holiday season, there are traditions we can’t live without. The tree, the stockings, the presents, and Mariah Carey.” Carey then appears, lounging on a couch with a dog and a copy of her illustrated book, also titled All I Want For Christmas Is You. There’s still no word what the animated movie will be about, but based on the puppy’s appearance in the trailer, it’s possible that it will have a similar theme to the book, which follows a girl who dreams of having a dog.
The song “All I Want For Christmas Is You” was first released in 1994 as the lead single to her first holiday album, Merry Christmas. Since then, it has been played all over the world, with the New Yorker calling it “one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon.” As of 2013, Carey has earned $50 million just through royalties.
