What happens when you take one of Broadway’s most enduring musicals and you mash it up with the songs of pop superstar Lady Gaga? You get brilliance.
That’s what happened when seven singers combined Rent‘s songs, like “Seasons of Love,” “La Vie Boheme,” “Light My Candle,” and “Take Me or Leave Me,” with Gaga’s “Born This Way,” “Boys Boys Boys,” and “Paparazzi.”

Rent is a stage musical developed by Jonathan Larson in 1993, and followed a group of young artists struggling to survive in New York City’s East Village during the peak of HIV and AIDS. The Broadway run in 1996 was so successful that it won four Tonys, including Best Musical. In 2005, it was adapted to film starring most of the musical’s original cast.
Lady Gaga is one of the best-selling musicians of all time, with six albums that all became hits. She was voted as second by readers in Time magazine’s poll of the most influential people of the past ten years, because of her influence in music, fashion, politics, and social issues. Gaga is set to perform at this year’s Super Bowl halftime show.
