The National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants – Region IV (NFJPIA-R4), a recognized organization of Philippine Institute of Accountants (PICPA), in partnership with JPIA – Colegio de San Juan de Letran Calamba Local Chapter conducted the First Presidents’ Meeting at St. Martin de Forres, M Building, Room M301. The activity was attended by the presidents, selected executive officers, advisers and other representatives from different participating schools within Region IV. In fact, there were approximately 200 delegates present.

The registration started at 6:30 in the morning. Romer Jericho Encarnacion and Cristopher John Busmente was the Masters of Ceremonies in this activity. As an introductory activity, there was a getting-to- know-you activity in form of Human BINGO. It was really a good start to build relationships with other delegates within Region IV. Afterwards, 5 winners were awarded with simple gifts coming from the NFJPIA-R4 Council. The icebreaker was followed by a video presentation that showed the transition from last year’s federation to this year’s. It illustrated all the events from Banhay and how fun and successful it came to be. After showing the collection of photograph from last year’s federation, it was followed by series of teasers that shows Likha’s line up of events.

A few minutes later, the oath taking of the Regional Executive Officers was held and was led by Ms. Edna Talabis Barrera, PICPA Regional Representative. After the oath taking, Ms. Barerra gave a talk where she discussed her experiences as a PICPA officer and her life as a fellow accountancy student. It was one of the highlights of the event for it is a privilege to be visited by such an influential individual. It was then followed by the induction of the Regional Executive Board members together with the respective officers from the different Local Chapters which was lead by Mr. John Michael Lava, our Regional Adviser.

Meanwhile, John Michael Mujer, the NFJPIA-R4 Executive President, introduced and explained this year’s theme – “LIKHA: Innovate. Develop. Transcend.” which truly embraces our drive to contribute to the positive transformation of our community and to go beyond the limits for the enrichment of the Accountancy profession. It was followed by the presentation of this year’s calendar of activities. The NFJPIA-R4 officers then discussed important matters: (1) the Presentation of Academic Activities by Jude Faith Bragais – the VP for Academics; and (2) Presentation of Non Academic Activities by Marydel Castillo – the VP for Non-Academics. The floor was then opened for questions and clarifications. It was a very informative discussion because the local chapters became aware of the changes that would happen in Region 4. This would probably benefit both NFJPIA-R4 Council and its local chapters in achieving ONE Region 4. Before proceeding to the discussion of the other executive officers, lunch was then served by our official partner, Mcdonald’s. Even at lunch, all the members and officers still managed to mingle with each other and build a strong bond which we believe, will last for a lifetime. Lunch was then served at 11:20 am.

The final part of the activity is considered as one of the most awaited part, the Adviser’s hour. Mr. John Michael Lava, the NFJPIA-R4 adviser, had a discussion regarding the successful activities, challenges or problems faced by each local chapter and how did they resolve it. Afterwards, there was a discussion among different groups on how the NFJPIA-R4 Council affects its local chapter and vice versa. This activity is necessary to adjust the actions and activities of NFJPIA-R4 Council and to reconcile it to the activities to be conducted by their local chapters.

After all have been said and done, a video of the JPIA Paragons was presented and everybody sang their hearts out as it plays. The respective certificates and souvenirs were distributed to all the local chapters who attended the said activity. There was also a group picture taking and bidding of goodbyes. The activity ended at exactly 4:37 pm.
