Taal volcano emits weak steam emissions, social media photos circulating are actually cloud formation

Earlier today, people thought an alarming amount of steam was emitting from Taal Volcano, which erupted just a while back. However, they later clarified that it was simply a cloud formation over the volcano. Taal only emitted weak plumes about 20 meters high and the social media photos are actually the cloud formation. Still, PHIVOLCS reminded everyone that Taal Volcano is still under Alert Level 1 and that weak emission is normal for the volcano.

PHIVOLCS reminded us through their Facebook page that 3 other volcanoes around the Philippines have also been under Alert Level 1 for a while, namely Mayon Volcano, Kanlaon Volcano, and Bulusan Volcano. Mayon and Bulusan have been under Alert Level 1 since June and Taal and Kanlaon since March.
