When in Manila, mark your calendars! In celebration of 50 years of Jamaican Ska and beyond, PiliSKApinas brings you JAMAICA SINGKWENTA! Ska first emerged on the tiny Carribean island-nation of Jamaica and has since reached the worldwide audience through different popular artists. Its influence can be found on almost all music scenes all over the world.  

 

At the heels of Philippine Ska heroes Put3Ska emerged a community of local ska and reggae enthusiasts that borne numerous talented bands that has carried the flag for the local music scene for years.

 

The gathering of Philippine ska movers will be headlined by local ska stalwarts Shuffle Union, Coffeebreak Island, Steadymovinbeat, The Monsoons, and Neighbors, who are celebrating their 17th year this month. JAMAICA 50 will be at Skarlet’s Jazz Kitchen, located in Timog Avenue, considered as Quezon City’s  dining and entertainment center.

 

 

When in Manila, experience the flavor of Philippine Ska at JAMAICA 50, presented by Manila-based production outfit PiliSKApinas, happening on August 23, 2012, starting at 9PM. The door fee of 100pesos includes a complimentary local beer.
