Looks like President Duterte doesn’t have to worry about Philippines – US relations after all, as US President-elect Donald Trump just invited him to coffee!
President Duterte revealed at the 12th anniversary of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption that the COCOL invite happened when he and Trump spoke over the phone.
According to Duterte, Trump expressed his interest in strengthening strained ties between the USA and the Philippines.
The President said:
“Here comes Trump, we had a talk. He said: ‘Mister President, good evening, oh President Duterte.
We should fix our bad relations. We should set something good here. You’re doing great,’ ” Duterte said during an event at Malacañang marking the 12th anniversary of the United Nations Convention Against Corruption.”
Digong also declared:
“Trump, at least, he’s now my friend.”
Well, can’t say we didn’t see this coming!
