The first phase of NAIA Expressway (NAIAX) that connects Terminal 1 and Terminal will open on September 22, Thursday. This announcement is according to Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade.
When NAIAX opens, it will offer free toll fees for a month to all motorists.
Tugade added that the next phase that will connect Terminal 3 and will complete the project will open before the year ends.
This expressway is expected to diminish traffic congestion going to the airport.
Tugade recognized the Aquino administration for starting the project. He said that the past administration built it, and they are only the ones finishing and opening it.
NAIAX is a four-lane, 7.75-kilometer elevated expressway and 2.22-kilometer at-grade road project that costs P17.9 billion to build. It passes through Sales Avenue, Andrews Avenue, Parañaque River, MIAA Road, and Diosdado Macapagal Boulevard.
