Meditation Retreat: Vipassana Meditation in the Philippines – NO Phones, NO Internet, NO Talking or Communication for 10 Days

If you’re reading this, then it must mean only one thing. That I have gone…. gone on a journey that is honestly more terrifying than sky diving, bungee jumping or visiting my relatives for the holidays.

I first heard about this “Meditation Retreat” in Thailand where you supposedly meditate with the monks. I unfortunately did not have the time and was still a bit on my party phase of life to do something like this. Recently, I again heard about this type of self healing meditation but this time, in the Philippines! I heard about it from fellow writers in our WhenInManila.com community.

Everyone I’ve met who has done this tells me that they HIGHLY recommend every person should do this at least once in their life.

It barely took me a second to realize that I wanted to do this! It was more fear that got me to stall my decision. Fear of not communicating, fear of being away from my phone, fear of letting go of Facebook, and fear of not being able to instagram my meals. Of course, I also then realized how dependent I’ve become to these things and that these fears were honestly absurd! That’s when I signed up!

Pretty much, I’ll be unreachable from May 1-12, 2013.

You can find more info here – https://courses.dhamma.org/en/schedules/schphala

“Vipassana, which means to see things as they really are, is one of India’s most ancient techniques of meditation. It was taught in India more than 2500 years ago as a universal remedy for universal ills, i.e., an Art of Living.”

“10-day Courses are an introductory course to Vipassana Meditation where the technique is taught step-by-step each day.”

“All courses are run solely on a donation basis. All expenses are met by donations from those who, having completed a course and experienced the benefits of Vipassana, wish to give others the same opportunity. Neither the Teacher nor the assistant teachers receive remuneration; they and those who serve the courses volunteer their time. Thus Vipassana is offered free from commercialisation.”

Again, I will not be reachable from May 1 – 12. If you need anything urgent or for partnerships and other inquiries about WhenInManila.com, you may contact our Managing Editor, Mae Ilagan at Mae@WhenInManila.com

For personal emergencies you may contact my sister Cheryl Golangco (since it’s personal matters you should have her contact info).

I will try to get back to all my emails after the 12th of May. I assume I will have over a thousand emails by then so please bear with me.

Wish me luck!
