On Monday, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) inaugurated two new boats for the Pasig River Ferry Service.

Hence, this beefs up the current fleet of the Pasig River Ferry Service of 12 boats to 14 boats.

The additional boats were built by Stordal Marine Corporation from Cebu. Each boat can accommodate 15 passengers at a time.

At the inauguration, MMDA General Manager Thomas Orbos persuaded the public to support this transportation service. He said, “the more you support it, the more it becomes viable.”

The Pasig River Ferry Service has terminals at:

  • Pinagbuhatan and San Joaquin in Pasig
  • Guadalupe and Valenzuela in Makati
  • Hulo in Mandaluyong
  • PUP Sta. Mesa, Sta. Ana, Lambingan, Lawton, Escolta, and Plaza Mexico in Manila

MMDA is looking into extending the ferry’s route to Marikina and Rizal.

In 2011, the Pasig River Ferry Service was shut down. However, in 2014, it was revived as a viable option for transportation. With traffic congestion almost anywhere in Metro Manila, it’s good to have another option to go around the city.

The Pasig River Ferry Service serves 500 passengers daily. Operation hours is from 6AM to 6PM.

Fare matrix is shown below.
