Italy has also already surpassed China, where COVID-19 originated, in having the most number of mortalities on Friday, March 20.

Recently, China has reported that the spread of the virus within the country has significantly slowed. A latest news update revealed that it has not gotten any new locally-transmitted COVID-19 cases for the first time since the outbreak began late last year, which is a huge turning point in the global battle to contain the virus.
