On Thursday, Pope Francis re-enacted the foot-washing ritual that Jesus performed on His apostles before He was crucified. Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of Muslim, Christian, and Hindu migrants and declared them all children of the same God.

According to The Washington Post, Pope Francis did this as a gesture of welcome and brotherhood amid the increased anti-Muslim sentiment due to the recent attack at the Brussels airport.
Several of the people seeking asylum wept when Pope Francis knelt down, poured Holy Water on their feet, wiped them, and kissed them.
