Earth Hour Philippines in Manila

Earth Hour Philippines Simultaneous Switch-Off

The Earth Hour Philippines switch-off will be on March 31, 2012 and will see three major cities in the country – Makati, Cebu, and Davao – initiate the simultaneous electricity switch-off at 8:30pm sharp (+8:00 GMT). For the Makati switch-off, an Earth Hour street parade will commence on the same day at Ayala Triangle, beginning at 6:00pm. So when in Manila, drop by Ayala Triangle, Makati and join the effort to promote green, sustainable practices, and have fun at the same time.

Spreading the Word on Earth Hour Philippines

For the effort in this year’s Earth Hour Philippines, WWF would like to have approximately 20 million Filipinos to participate. Participation can begin as early as now, with the “I Will If You Will Campaign”. The essence of this campaign (known by its Twitter hashtag #IWIYW) is to send out a challenge through your social media channels and encourage your network – no matter how big or small – to commit to a pledge for Mother Earth. From simple pledges from individuals to commitments from large businesses, the important thing is to spread the word and get friends and family on the Earth Hour Philippines bandwagon.
