A Guide on Where to Go and What to Eat When in Bali

Now that Valentine’s Day is over, perhaps most of you are longing to plan for the next happening—the much-awaited summer season! It is nearly time of year again to stash away your winter clothes and pull out your fancy bright-colored apparels for summer. Are you planning to head to Boracay again this year? Why not explore another tropical paradise destination in Asia that is close to home?

Bali (Denpasar), Indonesia is approximately 4 hours away from Manila and two of the Philippine’s leading airlines—Philippine Airlines and Cebu Pacific Air—have extended their direct flight routes to Denpasar, but the latter will only begin its first flight in March this year.

Let me share with you the reasons why we love Bali, Indonesia.

We arrived in Denpasar in a Sunday afternoon, an hour before sunset, which gave us an ample time to observe its little town with narrow streets. I was overwhelmed by how each front façade of residential and commercial establishments presents a split gateway (candi bentar) and an altar for Hindu offerings (canang sari). I barely saw modern contemporary architectural designs, well except for the high-end resorts.  Most of what one can see around this town have been religiously preserved from the early Balinese ancestors.
