6 Types of Friends as Cars

Article by Stacey T. Lee

They say a lot can be said about a person based on what they drive. In my eyes, cars can actually be compared to people — and just like people, cars have various personalities that contribute to what (or who) they are.

6 Types of Friends as Cars

Muscle

In a group of friends, there is always the loudest and most boisterous member. With an overwhelmingly strong personality, his/her voice (always chattering away, most likely) can be synonymous to the roar of a V8, a common engine found in most muscle cars. Just like Mustangs, Camaros, Chargers and Pontiacs, this friend of yours will usually rumble the day away, with belches of laughter in between dotted uproars of conversation with anyone and everyone coming his/her way.

Sleeper

Every loud friend needs someone to balance them out, thus introducing the quiet friend of every barkada. However, every group knows this to be pure BS — no one ever stays quiet with their true friends. Like stock cars (or ‘normal’ cars, for those who have yet to familiarize themselves with a petrol head’s vocabulary) with engines that come from others to make them more powerful; these kinds of friends are those that others don’t know just how loud and outgoing they actually are until they’ve warmed up to you – just like sleeper cars are with what’s underneath their hoods.

That Ol’ Reliable friend you can always count on, no matter what. The comfort zone of your friend group; the one who would prefer to stay in the comfort of their homes rather than go out and spend the night away. Without this friend serving as the staple medium in the mix of personalities in your barkada, though, who else can you call when all you need is someone to be there for you? This kind of friend, just like a Toyota Altis or Honda Civic, may not be the most exciting — but they will never let you down.

Classic

Usually pegged as the “mom/dad” friend of the group, this oldie (but always a goodie) may be quite old-fashioned (usually clueless about the latest make-up trend or spends more time looking at stocks than basketball scores). Just like 1950s Jaguars and the 90s Mercedes E-class, these friends may be older in spirit, but will still surpass its successors and remain one of the best.

Sports/Super

Most likely the one texting you past 11 in the evening when his/her night has just begun. Not exactly always the “party boy/girl” or the “wild child,” but typically the one you go to when in need of a fun night out. When with this friend, one would get the same feeling as racing along the expressway in a turbo-loaded Porsche or a big, bad Lambo — adrenaline pumping through your veins and the thrill of it overwhelming all your senses. The excitement that comes with this kind of friend is one that you will always need (a good time is never a bad idea, I always say), and it never hurts to drive a Ferrari, does it?

Luxury

Decked out in the latest fashion trends and newest gadget in hand, this friend is always on that other level of #extra. Whether he/she is dressed in the most recent collection of Gucci this or Valentino that, or stylishly matching up outfits that look like they came straight off runways, the level of chic and sleek can be comparable to the sexy, styled lines seen on Bentleys, RollsRoyces, S-Classes and Lexus. These expertly minimalistic cars know exactly how to make a statement, just like these friends of yours, without sacrificing neither quality nor class.

Which car are you? Share this with your friends and find out how you roll!
