Two Filipinos in Lebanon have tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). This development brings up the total to 91 Filipinos who are positive for COVID-19 who are outside the country.
Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez announced this at the “Laging Handa” press conference on the 2019-nCoV outbreak at Malacañang on Monday, March 9.
“We also received information that two Filipinos have also been identified (with 2019-nCoV) in Lebanon,” Meñez said.
The patients are under quarantine in a hospital in Beirut, the capital of Lebanon.
As of this writing, there are 91 Filipinos outside the Philippines who tested positive for COVID-19.

- Yokohama, Japan (aboard the M/V Diamond Princess cruise ship) – 80 (40 have recovered, 21 are finishing mandatory quarantine, and 19 under-recovery who are preparing for repatriation)
In the Philippines, there are 10 reported cases as of Monday. This includes a 62-year-old Filipino man who had no recent travel history and is said to be the first local transmission. Additionally, his 59-year-old wife tested positive.
The first three who tested positive were Chinese. One of them has died while the other two have already recovered.
The recent four new cases include two Filipinos, a Taiwanese man, and an American man. All are being treated in different hospitals in Metro Manila.
