The Annual Asia’s 50 Best Bars Awards Ceremony happened at the Capitol Theatre in Singapore on May 9, 2019. This annual event, which started in year 2016, honors the best of the best in the drinks industry and is an offshoot of The World’s 50 Best Bars List, which is now on its 10th year. It was a victorious night as three bars from the Philippines made it to the elite list!
The Curator located at Legazpi Village, Makati, landed on the 37th Spot and was also named The Best Bar in The Philippines. This quaint coffee cum cocktails bar serves very inventive drinks depending on your mood. Each of their concocted drinks is intelligently diagrammed in terms of its being adventurous, sour, boozy, bitter, sweet, and refreshing.
OTO located at Poblacion, Makati is on the 47th spot. Oto means “sound” in Japanese, so it makes sense that the owners wanted this bar to focus on listening and music. Aside from well-curated drinks, expect a high quality sound system and a well-insulated place without echoes.

Located on the Ground Floor of Shangri-la at the Fort, The Back Room is on this year’s 50th and last spot. One can find this speakeasy bar right before the reception area of the restaurant Ministry of Crab. It is hard to miss as there is a shoeshine service right before its entrance door. If you are into craft gin, this is the place to be!
