Netizens have been losing their minds over on Twitter ever since “Hetalia” creator Hidekaz Himaruya posted a design sheet of an all-new character for the series, asking people to guess who it is. “What is this country that loves taking selfies?” he asked in Japanese.

Now, it’s a globally recognized fact that the Philippines is the “selfie capital of the world” according to TIME Magazine. Knowing this, and taking into consideration the notable details on the character’s design such as the small wide-eyed brown animal on the character’s shoulder that looks similar to the tarsier and the white flowers surrounding him that look like Sampaguitas, it’s highly probable that this new individual is the one officially representing Filipinos in the anime!

It has yet to be confirmed if this character really is The Philippines, however. We’ll just have to wait and see!

“Hetalia” is a Japanese webcomic that features characters that are personifications of countries, with the main storyline focusing on the events of World War II. The main cast includes the following: Italy, Germany, Japan, United States, United Kingdom, France, Russia, China, and Canada.

It is officially making a comeback next year with the debut of the anime adaptation of Himaruya’s new “Hetalia World☆Stars” manga. Check out the teaser below:
