How to Survive Ati-Atihan If You’re an Introvert Like Me

Well, for one, always bring with you a can of beer because alcohol helps loosen you up. But, more importantly, and more seriously, go with your friends, your family, people you value the most, people with whom you won’t mind acting the fool around, people who’ll make all the walking and yelling and ear torture (especially if you’re unlucky enough to find the band inches from your ears) bearable. Ati-atihan is massively fun, especially if you’re with people you love and trust.

Remember as well that you don’t have to go all out right away. You don’t have to be on the same level of boisterous and crazy as your party friends. Just have fun, and try not to mind your inhibitions as much. As long as you won’t get photographed, it’s okay to put your guard down every once in a while. Everyone’s out there to have fun themselves, not to judge you for being you, and having fun is the main point of the Ati-atihan. Who knows? You might even make a friend.

Just make sure he’s not just trying to steal your phone because that’s an actual thing. Everywhere there is a crowd, there is always someone trying to steal your crappy phone. Either that or I just really need to think of a better way to hold on to my phone.

Stay strange, pocket change.
