After spending two months in the hospital due to pneumonia, half of the time being intubated at the ICU, Parokya Ni Edgar guitarist Gab Chee Kee has officially been discharged and ready to go home.
Frontman Chito Miranda updated friends and fans through an Instagram post last week with a picture of Gab smiling for the camera as he sat on a wheelchair seemingly at the lobby of the hospital where he had been admitted.
“After several major and minor operations dealing with complications brought about by his condition, sa wakas…pina-uwi na si Gab sa bahay nila,” Chito announced.
He thanked everyone for their support in helping chip in for Gab’s medical bills through direct monetary donations, auctions, and fundraising gigs.
“Dahil sa tulong ninyo, he survived. Maraming maraming salamat talaga!!! He was able to get the best medical attention dahil nagtulung-tulong tayo…and now, he could finally continue with his chemotherapy,” Chito added.
“Kelangan nya lang magpalakas para makayanan nya yung chemo. The important thing is that we are back on track. Kumbaga, balik tayo sa main event…his fight against Lymphoma. We will win this battle.”
“Many years from now, when me and my bandmates are old and gray, babalik balikan namin nila Gab yung kwento about how he fought and survived cancer, and how everyone helped out…and it will always be one hell of an inspirational story,” Chito ended his post.
In a separate post that was shared on the rock band’s official Facebook page, Gab expressed his overwhelming gratitude to all who aided him through this difficult journey.
“I am out of the hospital and home, finally. It was a journey. A seemingly impossible one. Made bearable and surmountable by so many angels. I’m surrounded by angels. Doctors, nurses, producers, musicians, artists, family, friends and strangers from all over. You stormed the heavens with your prayers. I feel unworthy of your support yet I am thankful beyond words. Sobrang salamat!” he wrote.
