What a throwback to our childhood!
In case you haven’t heard, the iconic game show “Legends of the Hidden Temple” is coming back–this time, with adults taking on the challenge.
What was originally going to be shown on mobile streaming service Quibi before it was shut down, “Legends of the Hidden Temple” has been revealed to premiere instead on The CW. Fans who’ve been anticipating this reboot won’t have to wait any longer, too; the official poster for the show has announced that it is going to air on October 10!
The game show will be hosted by former “The View” host Cristela Alonzo who was admittedly excited upon hearing about the opportunity. “Having grown up on 90s pop culture and actually being a fan of the original ‘Legends of the Hidden Temple’, I am thrilled to be hosting the new updated version of the show,” Alonzo said. “The biggest challenge for me on this show will be trying to simultaneously host it and contain my geeked-out excitement at the same time.”
Previously, Quibi released a casting call for interested participants and their chosen teammates. At the time, it shared that the rebooted Nickelodeon classic will be a “supersized, reimagined version” that will feature many of its original elements, including the Temple Run and the Moat Crossing. Olmec, of course, will still be there to “oversee” the challenges.
It is also preserving the iconic team names: “Purple Parrots,” “Blue Barracudas,” “Orange Iguanas,” “Red Jaguars,” “Silver Snakes” and “Green Monkeys.” These five teams will be battling it out to the top, where they will get the chance to enter Olmec’s Temple, retrieve a lost treasure while dodging the Temple Guards, and return it to its rightful owner.
