Ready to engage amidst the digital age? “Transcend: Engage Amidst the Digital Age”- spearheaded by De La Salle University’s ENGLICOM has managed to hold an event that promotes one’s initiative, innovation, and productivity amidst the pandemic. “Transcend: Engage Amidst the Digital Age”, a week-long event, will feature esteemed speakers from the fields of Arts, Business, and Science & Technology, culminating with a business pitch competition.

Transcend: The Art of Finding Your Niche, the webinar, will feature Ms. Sharlene Yap, a freelance illustrator and animator, a content creator on YouTube with over 281,000 subscribers, and an undergraduate student from UP Diliman. She will share her experience balancing and being productive in university and being a content creator during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Transcend: The Business of Finding Strategies That Work, the second webinar will feature Ms. Janina Almirañez, a DLSU alumna who currently works as a Market Development Officer – Segment Marketing at Pru Life UK. She will be sharing her various work experiences in business, how she was able to become successful, and how she is coping with the pandemic.
Transcend: The Science of Moving Forward to Success, the third webinar will feature Ms. Kathleen B. Aviso, a Ph.D. graduate from DLSU who is currently working as a university fellow and professor for Chemical Engineering of De La Salle University. She will provide professional insights about her wide variety of experiences, how she managed to be a multi-awarded researcher in her respective field, and how she continued scientific research in the pandemic.
To top off the event, a Business Pitch Competition will be held on September 4, 2021, from 2:00 PM – 4:30 PM. The Business Pitch Competition will provide an excellent opportunity for aspiring DLSU entrepreneurs to showcase their creative business ideas and new startups. To participate, students must first form a group of 3-4 members currently studying at DLSU. Then, the groups must submit a one-page pitch that will be further narrowed down and meticulously selected by a panel of three judges for the top five finalist groups. Lastly, the top five finalist groups will be allowed to defend their business pitch on Zoom in front of the panelists. The top 3 winners of the business pitch competition will receive Cash Prizes of P8,000 for first place, P5,000 for second place, and P3,000 for third place.
The primary goal of “Transcend: Engage Amidst the Digital Age” is to educate the audience about the pandemic regarding how the fields of arts, business, and science & technology coalesce and how one can engage through initiative, innovation, and productivity. In doing so, individuals will be equipped with knowledge on how they can take the initiative to become innovative and productive during the COVID-19 pandemic.
