Was Judy Ann Santos offered the role of Doctor Foster in the upcoming Philippine adaptation of the BBC Studios show “Doctor Foster”?
This was the question posed to the actress in an Instagram interview with writer G3 San Diego, which was streamed live on Monday night. However, Judy Ann respectfully declined to answer the question outright, saying that doing so would be disrespectful to fellow actress, Jodi Sta. Maria, who was cast for the role.
“I don’t know if I have to answer that question, kasi (because) I don’t want to be unfair kay (to) Jodi,” Judy Ann said. “At the same time, gusto ko rin maghintay sa (I want to wait on the) management if they are going to answer that.”
Judy Ann was among the top choices of fans to play the lead character in the remake of the much-loved drama after ABS-CBN announced it will be adapting the story. Despite this, Judy Ann expressed happiness for Jodi for landing the big project.
“Ako, happy ako (As for me, I’m happy) that it is Jodi who is doing ‘Doctor Foster,'” she said. “It’s a very, very good material. It’s a good project.”
“Ako din naman, if ever, hindi ko rin naman din siya magagawa, kasi takot nga ako lumabas, more than anything (If ever, I wouldn’t have been able to do the show because I’m really afraid of going out, more than anything),” she added.
The Pinoy remake, which will be titled “The Broken Marriage Vow,” will star Jodi as Dr. Jill Ilustre, whose life crumbles after discovering her husband is having an affair. Zanjoe Marudo will be playing her husband David Ilustre, while Sue Ramirez will take on the role of Lexy Lucero, the mistress. Zaijan Jaranilla will play Dr. Jill and David’s only son, Gio Ilustre.
