Jake Cuenca is in hot water after his prank proposal to girlfriend Kylie Verzosa went viral due to the fact that netizens were not happy about it.
On Instagram, Jake had shared a clip taken during their Valentine’s date in Palawan where he surprised Kylie with a romantic outdoor set-up complete with wine, candlelight, and flower petals on the ground. He then told Kylie, “So I prepared this because I just want to ask you one thing. So here it goes…”
Kylie looked visibly happy and excited in anticipation of what Jake was about to say…until he asked her, “Kumain ka na ba?”
Kylie’s face fell at that point, realizing that Jake wasn’t really going to propose to her like she initially thought, and the couple immediately broke into laughter.

Although Kylie doesn’t seem too fazed by the prank, a lot of fans and followers of the two did not take it well.
“For most ladies, that was a bad joke. Don’t do that again please!” a netizen commented.
Jake replied, “We are not like most. We know when the right time is and when the timing is right I won’t hesitate to ask.”
Others criticized him for being insensitive.
However, Kylie addressed the issue in the comments section and clarified that she already knew that Jake was going to prank her before he even started filming.
“I knew that Jake was going to ask me this question before filming. No feelings or humans were hurt while filming this video hehe, peace and love,” she said.
“Jake has been the best boyfriend to me.”

The couple has been together for two years. They confirmed their relationship after months of speculation via Instagram in April 2019. They starred together in teleserye Los Bastardos in which they played as each other’s romantic interests.
