Makati’s Hole in the Wall Says Goodbye, Announces Sale of Equipment and Furniture

Beloved food hall Hole in the Wall is bidding its loyal customers goodbye as it officially announced its closure after six years of serving good food to diners at its location in Century City Mall, Makati City.

Tasteless Group announced the establishment’s closure on Wednesday amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that continues to affect businesses and companies around the country.

“Today, we’re officially closing Hole in The Wall,” they began in a Facebook post. “This is a tough one. Hole in The Wall was our most ambitious project at the time. Inspired by chef-driven food halls abroad, we made it our mission to build the best one we could in Manila.”

“It was the biggest gamble we ever made. And by some stroke of luck, we succeeded. Wildly,” they continued. “Hole in the Wall was a proof of concept. It showed that a thoughtful, refined approach to dining halls could work here. Seeing similar concepts open after we did made us proud. It felt like the start of a new era for local dining, one that we helped usher in.”

“Sadly, Hole in the Wall’s story has now reached its end. But instead of feeling down, we just feel immense gratitude. We were lucky to stay open as long as we did, thanks to all of you.”

They went on to acknowledge the success of the many restaurants it housed, such as Bad Bird and Scout’s Honor, which are now successful restaurant chains.

“But those stores are another story. Today, we just wanted to give a big thank you to everyone who’s supported Hole in The Wall over our 6 year run. It was a pleasure to serve you, and we hope we’ve left you with plenty of great memories,” they added. “See you in our other restaurants very soon.”

Tasteless Group’s other large food hall, The Grid Food Market located in PowerPlant Mall, Rockwell, Makati, is still open for business.

They will begin selling their kitchen equipment and furniture at Hole in The Wall from November 20 to 29, 2020, between 10 AM and 8 PM.
