September is Alopecia Awareness month and every year, Alopecia Philippines, the first ever support group in the country led by Founder and President, singer songwriter Abby Asistio, would hold events to promote disease awareness and empower its members. This 2020, with the uncertainties and worries that come with the Pandemic alongside the challenging hair loss journey of those with condition, the group will be holding an online event entitled “Victorious: Rising Above Alopecia and the Pandemic Together.
It will be held on September 26th, Saturday, 3PM to 8PM on the When In Manila Facebook page. The holistic event is open to the public and will be filled with inspirational and motivational talks, panel discussions, activities, musical performances, and giveaways. A new song and music video entitled “Laya” by Tripzymike and, the group, in partnership with FlipMusic and Dayaw Studios, will also be launched that day.
Some of the guests include Andi Eigenmann, Roxanne Barcelo, Gee Canlas, Sam Oh, and more, with musical performances by Glaiza de Catro, Quest, and Sitti Navarro to name a few.
Alopecia Philippines is the first organization in the country that aims to promote awareness and educate the public about the condition. The Organization seeks to provide information on acceptable treatment for Alopecia and support through its online community and workshops.
As an organization that advocates awareness, Alopecia Philippines also aims to promote awareness to the public, especially to those closest to the ones affected—families, friends, coworkers, classmates, and neighbors—to help them understand the condition better.
The organization is geared towards creating community engagement programs and activities that give opportunities for individuals to support and participate in our advocacy.
