Next time you go out, bring an extra face mask

Wearing a face mask is one of the first-level of protections that we can provide ourselves in time of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Even the government has required wearing one in public to help prevent the further spread of the new coronavirus.

However, not everyone can afford to have an unlimited supply of face masks. To some, getting a reusable face mask even seems to be an unimaginable feat.

Therefore, whenever you can, bring an extra face mask so that even in a small way, we can help out those in need.

Emilio Garcia shared the photo of a man wearing a makeshift face mask below.

He wrote on the post:

An unknown man is doing everything to protect himself against COVID-19 by creating and wearing a face mask from paper cup attached to plastic string. Took this photo when we are crossing in Kamuning, Quezon City to deliver PPEs. Unfortunately we were not able to provide face mask as we already delivered it to our beneficiary hospitals. Since that day, we promise that we should be carrying excess reusable face masks and care packages for those who might need it. We in #BayanihanParaSaPilipinas realized how difficult it could be for those experiencing homelessness to deal with the coronavirus threat.

Here’s an idea. Whenever we need to go out to purchase essential items, bring an extra mask for those we will encounter, and may not be able to afford it or they will not be able to afford it at that time. Let’s understand one another. Let’s just protect one another. There’s a lot of people out there that really need help and anything can help even in the smallest/simplest way.

Garcia is part of this initiative: BayanihanParaSaPilipinas.

Bayanihan para sa Pilipinas encapsulates our main goal of raising funds to help our fellow countrymen who are severely affected by calamities, crisis such as the Covid19 Pandemic. Proceeds from the sold photos will be used to fund testing kits, personal protective equipment (PPE), and care/food packs for health workers, frontliners fighting COVID-19, homeless and daily wage earners.
