DILG clarifies policies for areas under quarantine

Last May 12, Malacañang announced a transition from the enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) to either a modified ECQ or to a general community quarantine across the country. However, many are still unsure about exactly which restrictions will remain.

The Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) clarified this May 13 that quarantine passes and curfew will still be in effect.

“Yun pong ating quarantine pass ay kailangan pa rin ho ‘yan sa lahat ng mga lugar na nasa quarantine,” DILG spokesperon Jonathan Malaya announced at a nationally televised briefing on Wednesday.

Modified measures will remain at checkpoints whether the area is under ecq or gcq. People’s movement will remain limited as well.

Joint Task Force (JTF) Covid Shield Commander PLGen Guillermo Eleazar explained that those under the workforce will be allowed to cross borders but individuals accessing basic goods and services should do so in their respective areas.

Malaya also said that parents will not be permitted to pick up children studying in Metro Manila but hailing from the province. They may instead make use of the “Hatid Estudyante” program, which assists stranded students in Metro Manila and transport them to return safely to their home provinces.
