The 1-year-old baby from Oriental Mindoro who tested positive for COVID-19 appears to have recovered, the provincial governor said Wednesday, citing a doctor’s report.

Governor Humerlito “Bonz” Dolor said that the girl, who is the first and only confirmed new coronavirus disease 2019 case in the province, has finished her medicines and had “no more signs of pneumonia” according to her doctor. Additionally, the baby’s guardians did not exhibit symptoms, he said.

The 21-month-old girl is the youngest COVID-19 positive case reported in the Philippines. She was in Alabang, Muntinlupa City from March 5-12 before she was brought to Calapan City.

On the other hand, there are 20 patients under investigation in Oriental Mindoro who have tested negative for the disease, according to the regional office of the Department of Health.

On Tuesday night, Dolor said the baby’s doctor has been waiting for the results of a second test to check if the coronavirus has been flushed out of the girl’s body. The doctor assured that the kid is already playful and may be discharged by Thursday or Friday if she tests negative.
