If there’s a country that will introduce a wacky mascot in this time when most parts of the world are under quarantine, it would be Japan.
And Japan delivered.

Quaran is a mascot for quarantine that Japan’s Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare has already rolled out even before the country was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, according to Time Out.
Apparently, the purpose of Quaran is to “promote the work of the Quarantine Information Office, which is under the purview of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare.”
Quaran wears goggles and has a shield. Its tasks include preventing illegal movement of prohibited items into Japan’s border and protecting Japanese citizens from any illegal activities.
Although many flights were grounded and non-essential travel in many parts of the world has been put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic, people traveling in Japan are more likely to spot Quaran at the airport.
