The long wait is over, as the Polytechnic University of the Philippines – College of Architecture and Fine Arts unfolds its 20th Founding Anniversary this year with the theme, AWANGGAN: Decades of Serving as a Beacon of Excellence, Advancing Advocacies, and Celebration of Milestones in Architecture and Interior Design.

Leading this week-long celebration, the CAFA Student Council is more than hopeful for all of the CAFAtids as well as the faculties to enjoy and participate to all of the activities they have prepared this year.

Going back to the roots

As the new millennium turns, PUP created new colleges to pursue the vision of varied course offerings affordable and accessible to the masses, its prime clientele, thus, the College of Architecture and Fine Arts was born on February 22, 2000, along with other colleges in our university. On hindsight, the Architecture program started first as a course offering way back in the year 1987 under the tutelage of the newly created College of Engineering and Architecture (CEA) under the helm of Dean Herman Padua. His vision of turning the Institute of Technology which is offering courses in Engineering then, into a full-blown college was realized with the creation of the new Department of Architecture.

Since then, from being a department into a lone College together with the newly opened program in Interior Design, CAFA already had proven itself to be one of the prime and top schools to study the two mentioned courses. Just last June 2019 Licensure Examination in Interior Design, the College exhibited domination as it has become the Top Performing School in the said profession. Last year’s June 2018 Architect Licensure Examination, and August 2018 Special Licensure Examination for Architects were the highlights of the College when it consecutively grabbed the First Spot for the Top examinees in the name of Ar. Paolo Martirez, and Ar. Rigina Young, respectively.
