Angel Locsin was recently recognized by Forbes in its Heroes of Philanthropy list. The list pays tribute to billionaires, entrepreneurs, and celebrities across the region who are “committed to solving some of the most pressing issues facing the Asia-Pacific.”

The real-life Angel responded to her inclusion in the list via a tweet on December 4. She expressed surprise at the acknowledgment, as well as gratitude.
“Filipinos have always been known for “bayanihan”.
I’m nowhere near from being a billionaire, but I try my best to do my part in my own little way,” Locsin humbly wrote.
She then added a call to action for others, saying: “I hope this would inspire other people to help as well.”

Forbes‘ website writes of Locsin: “Over the past decade, Locsin has donated as much as 15 million pesos to causes such as educational scholarships for students, supporting the economic and political rights of indigenous people, and ending violence against women and children. “
Locsin’s donations have amounted to helping “roughly 500 families hit by some of the country’s largest disasters: Tropical Storm Ondoy in 2009, Typhoon Habagat in 2012 and Typhoon Haiyan in 2013, one of the deadliest storms on record, leaving 6,300 dead.”
