Scarlett Johansson States Support For Woody Allen Despite Allegations Of Sexual Harassment

Just a couple of months after going viral for saying she believes she “should be allowed to play any person, or any tree, or any animal”, Scarlett Johansson is once again stirring up the internet with another controversial statement. This time, the issue has to do with her apparent support for director Woody Allen — someone she’s worked with on a number of projects.

Allen is, of course, infamous for the different accusations of sexual harassment thrown against him. The most prominent has been one of molesting Mia Farrow’s daughter Dylan as a child. While he has denied these allegations, they remain a dark cloud of doubt hanging over his career.

In an interview with The Hollywood ReporterJohansson spoke her piece on the matter. When asked for her opinion on it, she first throws back the question, “How do I feel about Woody Allen?”After having a moment to think about it she states:  “I love Woody. I believe him, and I would work with him anytime.”

“I see Woody whenever I can, and I have had a lot of conversations with him about it. I have been very direct with him, and he’s very direct with me. He maintains his innocence, and I believe him,” she continues.

As the story broke, Dylan Farrow took to Twitter to express her disappointment. She wrote: “Because if we’ve learned anything from the past two years it’s that you definitely should believe male predators who “maintain their innocence” without question. Scarlett has a long way to go in understanding the issue she claims to champion.”
