The executive order effective Friday cancels all business permits of stores, even convenience stores, from selling alcoholic drinks to students, specifically, within the range of 200 meters of the schools and universities in Manila.

Executive Order No. 17 mandates the Bureau of Permits and License Office (BPLO), City Treasurer’s Office, and business establishments to strictly observe Ordinance No. 3532 which prohibits selling intoxicating liquor within 200 meters of schools and Ordinance No. 8520 which prohibits selling any alcoholic beverage to minors.

As Mayor Isko signs the Executive Order, he said: “Kinakansela ko ang lahat ng lisensiya ng mga binigay na permit sa mga establishment sa pagbebenta ng alak sa 200-meter radius sa lahat ng eskwelahan sa lungsod ng Maynila.”

(Rough translation: I am canceling all licenses and issued permits of establishments from selling liquor within a 200-meter radius from all schools in Manila.)

Furthermore, the mayor mentioned businesses free to continue in view of following the ban on selling alcoholic drinks to minors.
