Kodaline set the Manila concert scene ablaze once again last February 26 at the New Frontier Theater. Fans couldn’t help but sing their hearts out to songs that made them cry, dance out of overflowing emotions, and of course, fall in love with their uplifting and heartfelt sound.

It was back in March 2018 when the Irish rock band first performed in Manila at the Wanderland Music Arts Festival. Since then, fans looked forward to watching them perform one more time and luckily, later that year, Kodaline announced their first ever solo concert in Manila held this year as part of The Politics of Living Tour 2019. Fans flocked to the New Frontier Theater just so they wouldn’t miss this exclusive chance to witness and welcome them the second time around.

The Irish rock debuted back in 2006 when they were formally known as 21 Demands. Seven years ago, in 2012, they changed their band name to what we now know as Kodaline. Band members consist of lead vocalist Steve Garrigan, lead guitar Mark Prendergast, drummer Vincent May, and bass guitarist Jason Boland.

Kodaline’s first ever solo concert definitely captured the hearts of many Filipino fans. As a matter of fact, Kodaline members themselves were very grateful for the love and support. Kodaline performed hits from their Politics of Living Album including songs such as Follow Your Fire, Worth It, Shed a Tear, Angel, Brother, Head Held High,  I Wouldn’t Be, and many more.

The Irish rock band became famous for their songs that were featured in exclusive movie soundtracks like “All I Want” in Grey’s Anatomy and The Fault in Our Stars. By the end of their heart-stopping performance, fans went crazy and begged for more. It was no surprise because Kodaline also didn’t want their Filipino fans to go home without getting the best out of their first ever solo concert in Manila. And in most concerts, the best part is always the end.

Aside from singing their hit song “The One,” what made fans go crazier was when they sang “High Hopes,” the theme song of the high-grossing romantic film Love, Rosie. Suddenly, everyone got hyped up and sang their souls all throughout the performance up until Kodaline’s closing song.
