When In Manila, come to the Fencing Tourney-Reunion for Recreationals and Veterans slated on March 11th
Slam-bang action, with legs flying, fists pumping, trash talking and swords whistling through the air, is expected on March 11th Sunday, as Vicious Brainiac Fencing unleashes its “VBF Recreational-Veterans Gladiators’ Cup 2012” , at the ULTRA fencing hall.
“This tournament is unique, as we are targeting those aspiring school fencers out to make a name for themselves, as well as getting back former college varsity players from the UAAP and ex-national team fencers who have expressed a desire to take up their swords anew,” stated Peter So, head brainiac of VBF. “It’s not only to revive old rivalries during the fencing bouts; but more importantly, to rekindle old friendships and build camaraderie amongst the local fencing community.”
Registration for this one-day fencing tournament is ongoing until March 8th (Friday), with entry fee pegged at PHP400.00. All male and female fencers, aged 15 years old and above, are qualified to join, except for UAAP varsity fencers for the past two seasons, and current members of the Philippine national team.
The event is made possible through sponsors WhenInManila.com, VITWATER fortified water, POCARI SWEAT energy drink, UNILEVER (maker of Rexona and Axe), MEDIPLAST bandages, KOPIKO candy and ENERGEN cereal drink. It is sanctioned by the Philippine Fencing Association (PFA).
