Kehlani in Manila: A Concert We’ll Never Forget

Kehlani’s recent concert in Manila certainly left an impact on her Filipino fans who all got together last Friday at The Island in BGC. Kehlani Ashley Parrish, more popularly known as “Kehlani”, brought her soulful R&B, Hip hop hits live to the Manila scene when she performed here for the first time ever through a concert organized by MyMusicTaste.

LA-based DJ Noodz started out the party by spinning some fresh beats before bringing over Filipino R&B artist Jess Connelly to perform her hits, Turn Me Down and Under Blankets. Kehlani came out after a short while and this is when the event officially kicked in.

The whole show was insanely fun and as someone who’s new to her music and artistry, I can safely say that I really enjoyed watching her on-stage as she filled it up with her overflowing confidence and positive vibes which radiated throughout the venue.

Kehlani and her crew were very, very accommodating, especially to the fans since they knew how hot the area was that time. They applied their protocol when it came to having shows in hot venues wherein they gave out bottles of mineral water to the whole audience and even splashed water on them from the stage to keep them hydrated.

Safety was also a key element in this concert since Kehlani had a group of rude show attendees kicked out when they tried to cause trouble and disrespect towards her crew. She stopped midway through the performance to call out that group and asked the security to escort them out of the premises. After that scene, she explained to the audience how she will never tolerate behavior like that especially in her shows wherein the goal was to keep it peaceful and just purely fun.

The show continued on with no more ruckus and Kehlani left an inspirational message towards the end of the show. She also left a message for the LGBTQ+ Community before performing her hit song, Honey, which is dedicated to them.

Overall, I love how humble she was and how positive her aura was that night because you can really see in that concert how grateful she was to just be able to come out on stage and perform right in front of a huge crowd thousands and thousands of miles away from home.

She has certainly come a long way since her days in teen-group Poplyfe and through all the ups and downs she’s had in life, she definitely deserves all the success that she is currently achieving. As for me, my feet might have died and I might have almost passed out in the middle of her performance but I surely had a memorable time and this is one concert that I will never forget.
