Meet Mimi, the Talking Cat from the movie, ‘Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes’

Who hasn’t watched ‘Ang Dalawang Mrs. Reyes?’ If you haven’t, then you’re missing out on the amazing comedic chemistry between Judy Ann Santos and Angelica Panganiban. The movie is about so much more, of course. It’s about love, heartaches, acceptance, forgiveness, and the many facets of the imperfect human.

But is also all about Mimi, the talking cat.

Mimi’s real name is Bunny. She’s a rescued puspin from CARA Welfare Philippines and she likes to hang out at the Cat Cafe Manila in Diliman, Quezon City.

According to Gia Lara, her soon-to-be mom who also worked on the movie’s production, Mimi is so chill and very special. Here is her account:

I remember during our first shooting day, at 2am, we were to make Bunny as Mimi look at the camera. It took quite a team to catch Bunny’s attention. Bunny is a rescued puspin from CARA Welfare Philippines picked for Cat Cafe Manila so we could foster and find her furever home. She has always been special to me because she reminds me of my actual bunny- only in derpy cat form. I’m just happy IdeaFirst took a chance on her and that CARA approved. And so we tried our best. We held our collective breath, tired as we were, as we each had a house item in hand either waving it in the air or clanking them together to make her look. It took several takes, not to mention with more pressure after each failure. And at last, Direk Jun said, “Cut!” We all rejoiced in unison and went home happily….

Kudos to the great team behind the movie for its tasteful execution, for loving Bunny and letting her be herself, and for producing an engaging masterpiece.

Check out the behind-the-scenes making of the movie, where Mimi is also a ‘star.’

Let’s support this cute film! It’s so cool that a rescued puspin got chosen to act beside these big stars, don’t you think so?

Mimi is now adopted but there are other adoptable cats who are just as adorable at the Cat Cafe Manila. Why not visit them? Here is the complete address:
